Stand up for renewable energy

Printed in MLIVE 5.9.13

I recently testified at the Public Energy Forum in Traverse City and was pleased to see the so many people standing up and supporting renewable energy.

Michigan is uniquely positioned to take command of renewable energy manufacturing. Strategic investments in renewable energy can build on the state’s engineering expertise, and modernized machining in the coming years.

Already, renewable energy investments in Michigan are helping to build a more sustainable economy and combating the effects of climate change. To compete in a 21st century global economy, we must build the industries that are driving Michigan’s economy.

If we fail to continue Michigan’s renewable energy investments, we risk losing the ground we’ve gained in these industries now and for the long term and the benefits we’ll see from them far into the future. We cannot do this without strong investments in renewable energy now and moving forward.
